I was in my car at 7.11 p.m. or was it 7.14 p.m. I had just started the car and was waiting for it to warm up. Then I hear that Barry Bonds is up at bat. There were two others already on and then he hits it. I hear it and think to myself I have to remember this moment. I have to. This is something special.
I am really excited to get home to watch this game. I had a good feeling, but I should have prepared for the worse because that did happen. It looked good. Then it got ugly. REAL UGLY REAL FAST.
I was sad to see a loss. This is worse than last year. Last year it was Steve Finely who is also killing the A's. The short version is we have to win tomorrow or it's over. We have to win all the rest too. The Padres have to lose 2/3 games and lose the next 2 to us. I hate this math stuff.
But John 3.16 please help the Giants.

I would have to say the best thing about Sunday had to be the company I was with. It was a beautiful day. The temperature was just perfect. I don't think I would have changed anything. I was able to use the chant that I came up with for Jeff Kent. The chant was, "WASH YOUR TRUCK!" I know he heard it too. I had someone confirm for me that I was heard on the TV and I did hear myself on the radio as well. When your voice can travel that much and that fast it just has to be scary. I never knew that my voice could be that "lethal."
The extra special treat was that I could spend it with friends who are just as passionate about baseball like myself. I know that sounds really corny, but that's the honest truth. When you have friends that are willing to make fools of themselves then it's like we're one big happy family.

I haven't lost my voice once at a game, but hey anything is possible.
I was also able to see Barry Bonds hit number 705. That's something special. I was there when he hit 703 and 704. He is a special guy with much talent. Even if he wasn't with the whole team this year, and only just came back it's good that he did. HE has brought a whole new life to the team. I know that sounds a bit strange, but that's just my take on it. Baseball is a sport where you don't know the outcome right away. Anything can change with the hit or with some sort of mistake in the pitching.
After the game I was able to send time with friends relaxing because we had something to celebrate. We wish that the Nationals could have taken the win over the Padres, but that wasn't the case. I know this sounds a bit juvenile, but man I wish we did have a sweep. This series was similar to the last one because we almost took it as well. The umpiring crew wasn't that great. At least it was the opener that they won and not any of the other games.
The pins they gave out say, "I WAS THERE." It's kind of neat to think about it. You'll never lose it, but with number 700 all they did was just put a sticker on your ticket. If you lose the ticket then that was it. I really wanted one of those, but I have it on tape I think.

DOWN IN FRONT! BUTT IN CHAIR!
I was sitting in section 214 and there were four (4) Dodger girls. They were wearing wife beaters that were tie dyed. They looked bad. They tried to rub stuff in our faces, but I fought back vocally. I know that sounds strange, but that's me. They would "yell", "Let's go Dodgers!" and with just me alone I'm sure I did a louder, "Let's go Giants!" I know that's not something to brag about, but when you have lungs you have lungs.

How do I describe what happened at the game? Let's start at the beginning before I was at the game. I had a late night on Thursday and I was tired. I know I was because the game on Thursday was a total loss. The only fun thing was picking on the pitching coach/bull pen coach.
Back to Friday. I had gone to work and I was dead tired. As I got home I had to help my brother with packing and anything else that he needed. I then left and headed for the park. As I was on the train I fell asleep. I was tired. I needed a nap to get me through the night. Then after when I woke up and got to the park I was hungry. All I could do was think about eating. Too bad my choice was turkey.
It was funny because when Barry Bonds hit the home run I was eating. I cared more about eating than I did about the game. OK that's wrong, but keep in mind I had a liquid lunch and that only filled me up temporarily. I know that's not an excuse, but still.
The game was great. We won and I was happy. Afterwards we were tied back with the Dodgers.

GO GIANTS!
I can't believe this game put me to sleep. I mean it really did. I didn't get enough sleep and then when it was getting good (M. Alou's catch to rob J. Kent) I decided I saw enough. Also at that point I believe the score was tied. It was around the 7th inning I believe.
I then went to have dinner and didn't find out what happen because I think my "husband" pitched, but walked a batter. I saw the 9th inning and it made me nervous. I saw Benitez catch the ball and he looked like he wanted to run it to first. That was purely deja-vu again. He had to face Hee-Seop Choi and that made me really nervous. He kept swinging and stuff. Finally he struck out and I let out a sigh of relief. The tying runs were on and if he hit a home run it would have meant a Dodger win. I am glad that didn't happen.
Tomorrow I will see if I'm able to work or not. Most likely, I'm going to take the day off.
Also, I think I was more tired because I watched Major League II before the game started. That might have been motivation for the team?

How can you feel worse?
I woke up this morning with a throat worse than yesterday and not as painful as Friday. I just wonder if it's how I slept last night. I feel awful today. I woke up and thought this has to be some sort of nightmare right? Depending on how I feel later tonight I'm taking tomorrow off. I can't be in the office sick. I know that I seem selfish, but I want to get better. I don't want this to drag on for two weeks, which is about the usual recovery time.

I've got a cold...
I feel like I've just gotten beaten over the head. I think it's a sign that I need to take off a day. The fact that I worked about six days this week which means I worked at least a day extra means I'm over working. The days that I worked overtime I didn't think about it.
I woke up today in the afternoon. I woke up at 4.00 p.m. Yes this isn't a joke. I did get up about 8 something in the morning to use the restroom and then it was back to sleep. My nose was stuffed and I didn't want to get up. My left eye hurts and I just didn't think that I should be up this much. Tonight will probably be the same. I will sleep about the same time about 1.00 a.m. listening to the Midnight Replay and then just passing out.

Grandpa's 90th Birthday and a great baseball game...
I woke up late and got to the park late. It was OK. No big deal. The game was great. Great seats and great company. The win was sweet as well. Schmidt did a great job and for Benitez got his career 250th save. It was a nice day and the weather was perfect. I forgot that there was a season ticket holders picnic.
I was so happy and I lost track of time, but being on the field was sweet. I got to see the dugouts (I didn't go into the clubhouse) and it was sweet. I was on the same ground as Bonds, Alou, Linden, Ellison, and others. It really made my day.
I got some autographs. I got Linden, Cain, Eyre (he asked me what was on my head I said I didn't know. It was sweet! It was just the long balloon tied to look like ribbon thing for AIDS but black.), Taschner to edit his number. It was just sweet over all. I didn't get Ray Durham's autograph, but I got a picture. That was sweet. Just being with the players was great.
Afterwards, it was time for Grandpa's birthday. I had no idea he was 90. Yup that's pretty good. He's in good health too. I saw my little cousins and then the older ones. I got some cute pictures of them. They're all on my camera and I just have to take them off and put them on here. I got some on my camera which is sweet because I can look at the cuties whenever I want.

Memorial and Cracker Jack...
It's Saturday night and I'm at home. OK this is after I went to a memorial. I'm just sitting here thinking about life. I saw my little cousins who are growing up before my eyes. One who was maybe a four months old now is eight months old. I can't believe how he's grown. Then there's also another one who's now big too. She's only a little bit older than him I think. They're growing up and that's life.
I spoke with my cousin about "converting" his boys to being Giants fans. He didn't have a problem with that. I think I should run it by my cousin first. I don't know if she'll be OK with it. This event a sad one, did allow me to see my cousins only a week earlier than usual. You just have to wonder if this is how life is. Something good happens and then something sad happens.
When my cousin read something she wrote it did bring tears to my eyes because what she talked about I felt too. I felt how her grandmother did take care of me too, as if I was one of her own grandchildren. She lived a long life until the age of 91. I had no idea my uncle retired early to take care of his parents. Things you learn from others.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - The San Francisco Giants will honor the franchise's all-time saves leader Robb Nen, who retired this winter, in ceremonies prior to their Saturday, July 9 contest versus the St. Louis Cardinals at SBC Park, the club announced today. Nen amassed a franchise-record 206 saves during his six-season tenure with the Giants, during which he helped lead the team to the 2002 World Series and the 2000 National League West crown. One of the game's most dominant closers, the three-time All Star ranks 13th on the all-time saves list with 314 rescues over his 12-year career.
"Robb was a real leader in the clubhouse and was a key force in making the Giants one of the best teams in baseball for the seven years that he was here," said Giants President and Managing General Partner Peter Magowan. "He was a key ingredient of the Florida Marlins 1997 World Series Championship and no one will forget his heroic effort in 2002 when he pitched through so much pain to help the Giants reach the seventh game of the World Series. He was also a tremendous representative for the organization off the field, and we look forward to recognizing Robb for his many achievements."
The right hander with the distinctive toe tap became the youngest pitcher to reach the 300-save plateau when he accomplished the feat at the age of 32, securing an 11-10 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Aug. 6, 2002. Nen finished the Giants' pennant-winning campaign in 2002 with 43 saves to become just the fourth pitcher in Major League history to have four separate 40-save campaigns.

Credit card damage...
I woke up early not because I wanted to, but because some jerk called up at 8.40 a.m. Who calls anyone at 8.40 a.m.? Well I also didn't turn off the phone and so I made sure I did that before going to sleep. I woke up and then went on the message board (what else would I do?) and replied and checked stuff. Then it was time to get changed and head on out to do some credit card damage.
I had no idea what I would do until I got home. As I was leaving I realized I spent a lot of money. I know last weekend in roughly about an hour or two I spent $90.00. That's a lot. But compare that with this weekend in a day and in about three hours I spent $150.00. I don't ever, ever spend like this. Whatever came over me to do it I haven't a clue. In about six hours including last week I have spent an entire day's pay.
I had no idea I could do this sort of damage. I didn't know I had it in me. The crazy part was that most of it was for work. Why am I buying work clothes? I don't know. I think it might be time that I grew up and left the "teenager" in me at home and look a little more professional at work. Maybe this has something to do with Jesse Foppert. LOL. Whatever it is I should just leave the "fun" and "teenager" clothes for the weekends and for the ball games.
I went to a quite a few stores. I went to Forever 21 and actually walked out of the place with a pair of capris. It happen to match my "monkey C monkey DO" lettering. I don't know why else I got it. They fit and they're capris in another color so I guess that's why. I just wanted to expand my wardrobe.
The next place I headed off to was FCUK (French Connection UK) and I had no idea I'd walk out with $52.00 worth of clothes. Luckily everything was extra 40% off or I would have been crying. Then the next stop was Gap. I bought this cute baby boy sleeper thing. Then I went off to anthropology, but left empty handed. I also went to Urban Outfitters, but found nothing. Then it was off to Old Navy again.
I go and thought well, I have this $10.00 off $50.00 and I can use that. I get three work shirts and then when I go to pay the guy said, "You can't use this until the 8th which is next Friday." My bad. I had no idea what day it was. So I used the 10% off instead. That was another $50.00 at the store. I now had shirts to go with the pants and skirt that I had bought last week.
I was heading home and thought well why not go over to Stonestown to check out my favorite store, Aeropostale or everyone else calls it "monkey store". OK no one calls it that, but that's where I get most of my monkey stuff. There was nothing. I did try to find the monkey polo that people have on sale on eBay, but I couldn't find it. I only saw the ones with the butterfly. Then I went to Macy's to find some more baby clothes. I did find something else that was cute too.
After all that I went to Mc Donalds to feed myself. I had ordered fries and apple pie. Yummy! I had finished up most of the fries while waiting for the bus to go home. Then once I was home I was relieved. I had time to eat and then get ready for the game. I came back only to have a headache. I had no idea that the game would make it worse. I had a bad headache and then when I couldn't take it anymore I took some medicine for it.
The game was painful to watch. I don't know how I did it. I didn't watch the whole thing. I had to stop and do something else. It was just painful. I did get some cleaning done. I also killed a spider. That was strange. I also dyed my hair too. I don't know why. I just wanted to. I have no idea what color my hair is. Oh well.

How to self diagnose...
During my "lunch" I call up and make an appointment to see one about my left arm. The pain is getting to me. I mean I'm lucky that it's my left arm and not my right arm. Is it the way I sit? Is it the way I type? Could it be from when I was younger and leaning on my elbows?

Ma'am...
It's an OFF DAY. Let me explain why. I woke up this morning at about 5.20 a.m. from what I could make out without glasses on. I went to the restroom and then went back to sleep. I woke up again when it was on KNBR. That didn't help. I went back to sleep until 8.00 a.m. I turned on the radio again to keep me company. That didn't do much because at 8.30 a.m. my phone rings. First thought that runs through my head is, "OH SHIT!"
I hurry up and get dressed. I then rush out the door to have another freak out. Where's my ride? Luckily they were late. No big deal. But all that before 9.00 a.m.?

I HATE THE GIANTS!
Yes, I am sane when I write this. I hate Giants baseball more than ever. I can't believe how they played. Everyone was mean at the park. I couldn't stand the kids in the row in front of me. Girls with pom poms and a crazy mom with an ORANGE yes ORANGE broom. A guy two rows back and without his shirt off and drinking beer. Sure he can make fun of my, but I'd kick his ASS too!
At some point in the game I had to cheer for Ginter to come in. He did and committed an error. So that was one less hit that our team could have. We were on the field so long I thought I was watching football. The fact they had the whole SUNGLASSES talk the day before didn't seem to help. They thought or "ASSUMED" the sun wasn't going to be out.
I'm pissed off that JC could give up runs and that Puffer had two outs and it took forever to get the third one. The only person who could take care of business was "HERMAN". Man, this team is or ARE the CLEVELAND INDIANS from the movie MAJOR LEAGUE. If they don't shape up they'll be at the bottom. We'll be the laughing stock of the NL West.
IF they continue to do this poorly then I don't think I'll watch anymore games on TV.

Why do the pitchers kinda hop over the foul lines? -- Jan J., Kelseyville
Matt Herges: I don't know about anybody else, but for me, you're wearing spikes and the foul lines are so nice and neat and clean, when you put your cleats in it as you walk, it kind of uproots some of the line. And I guess I'm kind of anal-retentive anyway, kind of a neat freak, so I don't like to mess up that line. I know Jerome (Williams) is very particular about stepping over the line, and I know Hermy (Dustin Hermanson) does, too. They may have different reasons. I know for me I just want to keep it clean.
Hermanson: It's just for the same reason some pitchers eat the same meal the night before they pitch every time. It's just kind of a superstition, I guess.
Kruk, where'd you come up with phrase, "Grab some pine, Meat!"? -- Frita C., Carlsbad
Mike Krukow: It's been around baseball forever. "Sit down," "grab some pine," "sit down," "grab some pine." And "Meat" has been around since Babe Ruth. "Meat!" It's just dugout stuff.
How do they clean the seating areas in SBC Park after a game? When I arrive the stands are always so clean! -- Mike S., El Sobrante
Jorge Costa, senior vice president, ballpark operations: First, all seating areas in the ballpark are swept from top to bottom. The garbage is picked up, bagged and trucked to the garbage compactor. The recycling is done and garbage dumped into the compactor and picked up by our garbage company. The seating areas are then power-washed using high-powered hoses that concentrate water to wash away a variety of debris, etc. Once that is done, seats are wiped and further detailing is done throughout the day in all locations until the gates open for that days event. It's kind of an ongoing Groundhog Day at the park.
A.J., what is your absolute favorite movie and CD? -- Lauren S., Lino Lakes, Minn.
A.J. Pierzynski: My favorite movie is "Scarface," and CD is -- I don't know. I don't really have one.
Why do the Giants sit in the third-base dugout at SBC Park? They used to be in the first-base dugout at Candlestick and I thought that National League teams all were in the first-base dugouts at home while American League teams were in the third-base dugout at home. -- Blake P., Eugene, Ore.
Staci Slaughter, vice president, communications: The location of the home team dugouts varies. We switched dugouts when we moved to SBC Park because the sightlines are much better from the third-base side as it enables the manager to see the entire playing field. There's also more room on the King Street side of the building to have a bigger home clubhouse.
Dustan, who or what helped you to adjust to moving here and getting all set up in town? Do the Giants help you out or do you do it yourself? -- John J., San Mateo
Dustan Mohr: The Giants help you out. They gave me the resources that I would need, and that just allowed me to take care of it on my own. They point you in the right direction; then the rest was up to me. It was an easy transition.
How do the Giants room when they are on the road? Do they always have the same roommate or do they switch? -- Alex R., San Francisco
Reggie Younger Jr., director of travel: The players do not have roommates on the road during the Championship Season (the regular season). All players have single rooms.
Is there somewhere in the park I can donate a glove outside of the promo they did for the Junior Giants? I have some old stuff I am not using any more, but is still usable. I was unable to attend during the promo. -- Penny I., Petaluma
Paul Giuliacci, associate director, Giants Community Fund: Gloves can still be donated to the Junior Giants program by dropping them off at the SBC Park Guest Services office or the KNBR kiosk, both located on the Promenade Level.
What do you do with all the posters and cardboard cutouts of the players in the ballpark when you get new ones? Do you ever give them away and how can a fan receive one? -- Ana P., Bay Point

We battled back...
We were up and then we battled back. And we tied it. Then some guy (I'm not going to learn A.L. players names because I don't want to) hits a walk off home run. SHIT! FUCK! DAMN IT! SON OF A BITCH! OK I think I got the swearing our of my system. We tried so hard and the rookies did so well.
I now feel terrible. I know that the guys deserve better and that this is just another one of those close games that should have gone our way. It's like the first game we played against the Twins.

Matt Herges mentioned (in a Giants commercial) he has to get his brother-in-law out. Who is his brother-in-law and what team does he play with? -- Sandy L., Alameda
Herges: Todd Hollandsworth. He is with the Cubs, and he's currently on the DL. I introduced him to my sister in 2000 when we were teammates on the Dodgers. Our next road trip was St. Louis and then Chicago, and I grew up in between St. Louis and Chicago, about two hours from both. We were just talking in the outfield, and I think highly of him, obviously, and it just came to me. I said, "Have you ever met my sister?" and he said, "No, I'd love to." I said, "OK, I'll call her tonight and see if she's interested in meeting you."
So that first night in St. Louis, my whole family's there and I introduced them in the lobby. That was May, and that December, they were married.
That night, she came back to my parents' room and said, "He's unbelievable. He's it." He went back to his room and called his brother and said, "I just met my wife tonight." If you believe in love at first sight, that was definitely it.
What is Dustan Mohr's entrance music called? -- Mike B., Berkeley

I am mystified by what "sold out" means (at SBC Park). How many tickets can be sold, and what defines "sold out"? It seems to be anywhere beyond 41,000, but isn't there a real number? -- Bonnie F., San Francisco
Russ Stanley, vice president, ticket services/client relations: Technically a sellout is when every seat except obstructed view and standing room have been sold. The reason the number can be a sellout yet always be different is based on SRO sales and the mix of complimentary tickets. The rule of thumb we use is any time we distributed 41,500 or more tickets, it's considered a sellout.
I always see Dustin Hermanson with different styles of facial hair, and I was wondering how long it takes him to shave and style his facial hair? -- Liz V., San Francisco
Hermanson: No longer than anybody else, since I've been doing it for so many years. Maybe an added 25 seconds.
Hey, Scott Eyre, whenever a pitcher allows a runner on first, why do the pitchers point at shortstop or second? -- Tiffany W., San Diego
Eyre: We think he's cute. No, it's just to let them know who's covering (second base) -- sometimes it's the shortstop, sometimes it's the second baseman. A lot of times with me, it's the second baseman. There's a lot of things that determine who covers. The hitter determines it, the pitcher does, and (bench coach) Ron Wotus does, because he positions the position players. If he's got the second baseman playing way over, then the shortstop has to cover. If he's got the shortstop playing way in the hole, the second baseman will have to get there.
J.T. Snow came back from knee surgery really quick. What were the main rehab exercises that helped to strengthen his knee? -- Dave R., Oakley
Stan Conte, head trainer: J.T. came back in about four weeks, and the general time frame is four to six weeks for that type of surgery. The surgery itself wasn't major. It was a cleanup procedure, so that's one of the reasons he came back so quickly. It was a little bit on the quicker side. We did a basic knee rehabilitation program, but as soon as he was able to anything baseball-wise, hitting and throwing, we started him doing that. That was within about a week to 10 days, so that helped him get back a lot quicker. But everything else was a basic knee rehab, a strengthening and stretching program with a lot of leg-press type exercises.
A question for Kruk and Kuip: Do you guys ever notice anything during the game like a pitcher tipping pitches or other aspects of the game and then maybe sneak your observations down to the dugout? -- Mark J., Sebastopol
Mike Krukow, broadcaster: Absolutely. We'd never, ever, ever point them out if we thought the Giants would gain an advantage with it, so yeah, if we see something, we pass it on to the Giants.
What does "designated for assignment" mean, and where have the players such as Brian Cooper, Chad Zerbe and Luis Estrella who have been designated for assignment this season gone? -- Zach M., Lakewood, Colo.
Matt Hodson, media relations coordinator: When a player is designated for assignment, it opens up that player's roster spot for 10 days while the team waits for the player to clear waivers. If the player is not claimed by another club within two business days, then the team retains the player and may either send him to the minors outright or trade him to another team.
Brian Cooper was designated for assignment, cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Fresno, but has since been released. Chad Zerbe and Leo Estrella were designated for assignment, cleared waivers and then were outrighted to Triple-A Fresno.
Inside SBC Park, hanging on the facade near section 233 is a pennant with '51 on it. What is this, and what does it mean? -- Ken D., San Jose
Mario Alioto, senior vice president, corporate marketing: The "Remember '51" sign in the left-field corner is to remember the 1951 season when Bobby Thomson hit the "Shot Heard 'Round the World" (that gave the Giants the National League pennant over the Dodgers). This is for fans to always keep in mind that it's not over 'til it's over, and in 1951, the Giants came back from being quite a bit out of the pennant race to win with Thomson's homer.
