Ransom's play: Shortstop Cody Ransom marveled at Dustan Mohr's great catch in right field on a Chad Tracy liner in the ninth inning of Saturday night's game, then was in position for a perfect throw to second base, where Ransom tagged out Scott Hairston.
"I was lucky because my back was turned," said Ransom. "I was catching the ball from Dustan and didn't know Tracy was still running. He didn't know he was already out, but I did. That helped a little bit.
"That was an unbelievable play, especially as hard as [Mohr] hit the wall," said Ransom, who made a nifty play himself on a key double play the inning before.
Mohr laughed that Ransom not only tagged Hairston but Tracy and second baseman Ray Durham, too.
Ransom chuckled over that: "Yeah, if you don't know who to tag, tag 'em all.
